Happy August!

I hope you and your families are having a wonderful summer! We have five weeks left so let's make it count.

I organized what I hope is a fun and informative August CityNotes for you!

Of course its summer , so most of the topics are related to gifts for your weekend hosts. Whether its unique special little gifts, more extravagant tech toys, or sentimental kites. To this day, my mother always references one of her favorite times at the beach with our son Thomas was when he was flying a kite at maybe six years old. This section is an homage to that moment. :)

I'm also newly obsessed with a wonderful website called Gardenheir.com. They offer so many unique garden gifts for you to buy for yourself or for friends.

I always think its fun to fantasize about having a Vintage beach tent....it can be for the beach, backyard, or garden.....It can be reminiscent of Jaipur, Forte de Marmi, or Cannes. I love the concept so I included a few.

Lastly, I wrote about Din Tai Fung ages ago in another CityNotes! FINALLY its open! Not easy to get a reservation...no walk ins allowed but SO EXCITING!

I'm also completely smitten with Penny! A new seafood restaurant downtown! Perfect for a summer night!

Chore Watering Can

A more compact version of Negishi’s long-necked watering cans, the Chooro name is a play on ‘chisai jorro’ - small watering can in Japanese. It retains Negishi’s professional quality in a smaller size and, with its exchangeable nozzles, can deliver water with accuracy or with the signature rain effect. Perfect for indoor, balcony or patio gardening.

Negishi Industry Co. is a family-owned group of master metalsmiths who solder and craft each watering can by hand in their Tokyo studio. Only 3 people in the world make each of these very limited pieces in the Sumida area of the capital city.

Negishi Industry Co. began making watering cans in the 1960’s to accommodate demand for high quality implements for bonsai. Then and now, Negishi watering can have a special status among bonsai practitioners because of the unique rain-like fall of the water from their nozzles.

The handmade production process involves melting solder over hot coals and allowing it to flow with the maker’s skill onto the metal’s surface. Each can take nearly half a day to construct and thus only a few can be made by the company each day.
