Happy April!
I hope you like this months CityNotes!
I have been so incredibly busy that I didi a bit editied version this month. Hopefully you will find some great resources.
All I can think about is the beautiful weather and the coming of Spring.
I have included some art shows Im looking forward to as well as some new restaurants you may want to try.
I am so obsessed with flowers and the garden right now, I thought I would add some interesting outdoor and indoor pots to showcase all the beautiful flowers of spring! I included some of my favorite stores and did not keep it to Manhattan. Enjoy!
A couple of little extra notes.... I had included Hells Kitchen months ago when it was at the public and again last month as its now playing at the Shubert on Broadway. I was lucky enough to be invited to opening night of the previews and RUN to go see it! It was even better then the Public! Uplifting and joyful...not to mention INSANE choreography and music!
I hope you have a wonderful month!

ART
LES LALANNE: ZOOPHITES
KASMIN
April 4 – May 9, 2024
509 West 27th Street, New York
Kasmin Gallery
Kasmin is thrilled to announce Les Lalanne: Zoophites, an exhibition in homage to the acclaimed French sculptors Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne, drawn entirely from the collection of their eldest daughter, Caroline Hamisky Lalanne. The exhibition will include major works by these inventive artists who consistently defied art-world conventions. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Les Lalanne’s first joint solo exhibition, which opened in Paris in June 1964, this exhibition borrows the title Zoophites, an obsolete French term for invertebrate animals that resemble plants in their appearance or growth patterns. The exhibition will be accompanied by a newly commissioned text by curator Paul B. Franklin.
WHITNEY BIENNIAL 2024: EVEN BETTER THAN THE REAL THING
WHITNEY MUSEUM
MAR 20–AUG 11, 2024
99 Gansevoort Street
Whitney Biennial
The eighty-first edition of the Whitney Biennial—the longest-running survey of contemporary art in the United States—features seventy-one artists and collectives grappling with many of today’s most pressing issues. This Biennial is like being inside a “dissonant chorus," as participating artist Ligia Lewis described it, a provocative yet intimate experience of distinct and disparate voices that collectively probe the cracks and fissures of the unfolding moment.
The exhibition’s subtitle, Even Better Than the Real Thing, acknowledges that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is complicating our understanding of what is real, and rhetoric around gender and authenticity is being used politically and legally to perpetuate transphobia and restrict bodily autonomy.
CHRISTOPHER WOOL: SEE STOP RUN
LUHRING AUGUSTINE
101 GRENNWICH STREET
seestoprun
See Stop Run, a survey of Christopher Wool’s works from the past decade organized by the artist with curator Anne Pontégnie, in on view through July 31, 2024. The exhibition takes place on the entire 19th floor of an unoccupied space in the heart of the financial district. Wool has chosen an independent venue in order to escape the presumed neutrality of the “white cube” as an idealized context. The city permeates the presentation through windows that wrap around the full 18,000 square foot installation. This is Wool’s largest exhibition since 2014 and will run March 14 – July 31, 2024. The show is free and open to the public with hours Thursday–Sunday from 12–6pm. Capacity is limited to 75 persons at a time.
