February 2025
Valentine's Day
Welcome to 2025!

I took off January..... I feel as though everyone needs a rest. I hope you were able to recharge over the holidays. January is for taking a breath (BVOY) and reengaging mindfully.

February Citynotes is one of my favorite issues to write about. I try to focus on Valentines Day. What better a gift to receive for Valentines Day than earrings! For those of you who know me well.... you know I'm always on the hunt for fabulous earrings. The more unique and oversized...the better :)

I ADORE jewelry.

This month I am focusing on three of my favorite ateliers........

De Vera an all time favorite for over 20 years! Some of my favorite pieces are from him! He has exquisite taste!  He also now has a little outpost at The Row on 70th Street. To enter his store is a true joy of presentation, edit and objectifying!

Mary MacGill is fantastic. One summer about six years ago we were visiting our dearest friends in Newport and we took their boat to Block Island for lunch. We were exploring the town and we happened upon this chic hamlet called Mary MacGill. I didn't know anything about the brand. Since then I have probably bought over 15 gifts for graduation, birthdays and holidays from their store. They have another store in upstate which my friend Shauna says is great. I love her aesthetic. She carries art, clothing and jewelry.

And lastly,Ted Muehling. Some of my favorite pieces of jewelry , Robert bought me from Ted Muehling over 28 years ago. He has always sold to Bergdorfs and extremely tasteful niche stores. I actually hadn't been in a while. He moved some time ago to a glorious spot in Tribeca.... but truth be told I never journeyed to the new spot.I was always strongly influenced by his home products from my Anthropologie days. His home partnerships with Lobmeyr, Nyphenburg & E.R Butler were always a dream to behold! My Swedish friend Christel took me in to the store in December and I was reminded how I would simply like to live there! In the shop! In the back in the atelier! Even if you dont buy something...go experience the space! Insanely fantastic!

In addition , I added two other categories this month.

Romantic Couple Spa Experiences and Dry January as it continues!

I thought it would be fun to get your honey, loved one or family member a spa experience at any of the outrageous spas I've included.

I also am noticing the fact that fewer people are drinking around me and the trend for " dry January" is actually a way of life and how  that life style is trending. Past a non alcoholic beer.....I have included non alcoholic spirits. There are some great websites and awesome choices!

Enjoy the month!

Please be safe!

Much Love to you & your families,

Pen pearls are organic gems that develop within the bivalve mollusk Pinnidae, often found off the Gulf Coast of Florida. Commonly known as a Pen Shell, it was named for its shape with one broad end finishing in a pointed tip similar to a quill pen. Each uniquely formed pearl within retains a range of lustrous black and brown tones reminiscent of its host. Because most are non-nacreous, their developing structure sometimes causes crazing and cracking. These salt water pearls are a rare natural occurrence and never cultured.

Natalie Page Ceramicist
Natalie Page Studio
Artist and ceramicist Natalie Page is the creative mind and Principal Designer behind NPage Studio. Natalie started her artistic journey in university, where an introductory ceramics class sparked a life-long passion for the medium that continues to inform her design process today.

Functioning as an artist's studio, her works for NPage Studio range from hand built forms for her line to cast work for other projects. The variety of methods make the studio vital and adaptable. Natalie’s process for design is driven by curiosity and the excitement of creation and "playing" in the studio. Moving things around, noticing shapes and the way they interact, pulling pieces from the adjacent wood shop and collaging them together to envision new forms is an essential part of the process. The subtle hand markings embedded on the surface, a bit of the making of the thing is the historical reference to play that remains in the work.
This serves as a recognition of the hand made process and creates a personal connection between artist and the client.

Natalie is also the Creative Director and Co-owner of Lostine where she and her husband Robert Ogden of RTO Lighting come together to run the company that designs and manufacturers its own lighting and homewares collections housed in the same building in Philadelphia. In all of her creative endeavors Natalie applies an instinctual approach to design creating objects that balance beauty and utility.
